Car Battery & Electrical Repair in Newbury Park, CA
A dead battery is sometimes a symptom. We test the battery, alternator and starter, trace electrical faults to the source, and replace only what has actually failed.
Signs of a Battery or Charging Problem
- Slow, labored cranking in the morning
- Dim headlights or interior lights at idle
- A battery or charging warning light on the dash
- A battery that dies again soon after a jump
- Electronics resetting or acting up
- Corrosion on the terminals, or a battery past three to five years old
Test First, Then Replace
We load-test the battery and check the alternator’s output and the starter’s draw before recommending anything. A failing alternator, a corroded connection or a parasitic drain will kill a brand-new battery just as fast as an old one, so we find the actual cause first.
Electrical Repairs
Modern cars run on electricity — from starting the engine to rolling down the windows. When something electrical acts up, we trace the circuit to the source rather than swapping parts.
- Battery testing and replacement, including AGM and EFB
- Alternators, starters and charging system repair
- Terminal cleaning, cable and ground repair
- Power windows, locks and mirrors
- Headlights, tail lights and bulbs
- Fuses, relays, wiring and parasitic-drain diagnosis
- Battery registration and reset on vehicles that require it
The Right Battery for Your Vehicle
Many newer vehicles, especially those with start-stop systems, require an AGM or EFB battery, and some need the new battery registered with the vehicle’s computer. We install the type your vehicle calls for and complete any reset so the charging system works the way it should.
Add a battery and charging test to any visit. It takes a few minutes while we have the car.
Battery & Electrical Questions
How long does a car battery last?
Three to five years is typical. Heat shortens battery life, so with Conejo Valley summers it pays to have the battery tested once it passes the three-year mark, especially before a road trip.
Is it my battery or my alternator?
Slow cranking and dim lights that come back after a charge usually point to the battery. A battery that dies again soon after a jump, or a battery light while driving, points to the charging system. We test both before recommending anything.
Why does my battery keep dying?
A failing alternator, a parasitic drain from something staying on, corroded connections or simply an old battery can all cause it. We test the battery, the charging system and the electrical draw to find the actual cause.
Can you fix a power window or a headlight that stopped working?
Yes. A stuck window is usually a failed regulator, motor or switch; a dead light is often a bulb, socket or wiring fault. We diagnose the circuit and replace only the part that failed.
Do you install the right battery for start-stop and newer vehicles?
Yes. Many newer vehicles require an AGM or EFB battery and a registration step after replacement. We install the type your vehicle calls for and complete the reset.
