Diagnosed First, Then Repaired

A trouble code tells us which system reported a problem, not which part failed. We test before we replace — live data, component tests and a hands-on inspection — so you only pay to fix what’s actually broken. For anything major, we walk you through the options and the cost of each before you decide.

Tune-Ups for Modern Engines

Today’s tune-up is about keeping the ignition and fuel systems on schedule: plugs and coils on the manufacturer’s interval, clean air and fuel filters, and a throttle body that isn’t gummed up. Done on time, it keeps fuel economy up and prevents the misfires that damage catalytic converters.

FAQ

Engine Repair Questions

What are the warning signs of engine trouble?

A check engine light, rough running, loss of power, knocking or ticking, blue or white smoke, oil or coolant leaks and a rising temperature gauge are all reasons to have your engine looked at.

What is a tune-up these days?

On a modern engine a tune-up usually means spark plugs, ignition coils if needed, air and fuel filters, a throttle body cleaning and a check of the ignition and fuel systems — on the interval your manufacturer lists, not on a fixed mileage.

When should I replace my timing belt?

It depends on your engine — many manufacturers call for it between 60,000 and 105,000 miles, and some engines use a timing chain instead. Your owner’s manual lists the interval, or we can look it up for your vehicle. A snapped belt can wreck the engine, so don’t push it.

Is a small oil leak serious?

Small leaks tend to grow, can drip onto hot exhaust parts and can lower your oil level enough to cause damage. It’s worth having any leak checked so we can tell you how urgent it is.
